sorry this comment is unrelated to the immediate post.
I was doing research on my family tree and googled for Alwar - your blog came up with the Oct 2005 post on Family History. My ancestors, it seems, were in Alwar till the late 1800’s until my great, great, great, grandfather left and settled in UP.
Who are these villagers from Rajasthan keeping records? Can i get in touch with your cousin who found them? What are the places they maintained records for? Is Alwar one of them? I live in Delhi, so making a trip to the concerned village might be possible in the near future.
