sorry this comment is unrelated to the immediate post.
I was doing research on my family tree and googled for Alwar - your blog came up with the Oct 2005 post on Family History. My ancestors, it seems, were in Alwar till the late 1800&#039;s until my great, great, great, grandfather left and settled in UP. 
Who are these villagers from Rajasthan keeping records? Can i get in touch with your cousin who found them? What are the places they maintained records for? Is Alwar one of them? I live in Delhi, so making a trip to the concerned village might be possible in the near future.
